Our Massage Therapist will help you on your way to reduced stress and better overall well-being. Massage Therapy is not only a relaxing and enjoyable experience, it relieves stress, improves circulation and breathing, aids healing, and helps with a variety of joint and muscle problems. And these are just some of its many benefits!

What is massage therapy?

One of the oldest forms of therapy, massage is a system of kneading, stroking and pressing areas of the body to relieve pain, relax tight muscles and stimulate circulation. While massage is a pleasant experience, it also works on muscles, ligaments and tendons to improve tone and flexibility. The muscles just under the skin are most easily worked, but it can also reach into the deeper layers of muscle and soft tissue, and possibly even the organs. Moreover, it stimulates the circulation which helps the muscles and lymphatic system dispose of accumulated waste products. Tight muscles constrict blood flow that can cause pain and discomfort, limit flexibility, and can over time result in a variety of disorders throughout the body, including the joints, neck and back.

Postural problems arising from muscle stiffness can also affect the internal organs, causing problems with functions such as breathing or digestion. Tight muscles can also be a source of physical and emotional stress.

What massage therapy can do for you

While a single massage is pleasurable and relaxing, the effects of massage are cumulative, and regular course of massage will yield the most benefits by strengthening and toning the entire body system. This can help prevent strains and injuries that may otherwise occur due to structural weakness and excess muscle tension. It can also aid in the recovery of injuries or long-standing chronic conditions, and assist in preventing a recurrence. Massage can stimulate or relax the nervous system, depending on what is required, leaving one with enhanced feelings of relaxation or renewed energy.

Massage Therapy is potentially very restorative physically, mentally and emotionally. As we share clinic space with the Kensington Physiotherapy & Acupuncture Clinic, Massage Therapy is also included in many of their treatment programs.
